Should the Jewish people be forced to stop building homes in
East Jerusalem - VOTE NOW
The area in Jerusalem which has become the target for the debate between
the Obama administration and Israel – the Shepherd Hotel compound in the
Sheikh Jarrah-Mt. Scopus area – has long been a mixture of Arabs and Jews.
Many observers incorrectly assume that Jerusalem is made up of two
segregated sectors — Jews in the western sector and Arabs in the Eastern
sector. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Jerusalem is a diverse
city, a melting pot of people. Eastern Jerusalem alone holds integrated
neighborhoods with some 200,000 Jews and 270,000 Arabs. It is neither
completely Arab nor completely Jewish. An armistice line could not
possibly separate the ethnic diversity that is Jerusalem. The Obama
administration demands to divide East Jerusalem would create an
untenable situation for all concerned.
Were East Jerusalem given to the Palestinians, Jews would not be allowed
to build in an Arab-held capital, nor would they even be welcome in the
area. There is no way! Jews cannot live in the Palestinian territory.
Today, if a Jewish man or woman inadvertently strays across the line
into the area, they are murdered.
The last time the Jewish people were restricted to solitary locations
and forbidden to stray outside their confines was during the Holocaust
when they were herded into ghettos — a precursor to the concentration
camps that resulted in the deaths of six million Jews. That must not
happen again! Never again!
"A light unto the nations" refers to the Jewish people, not only to
Israel.
We must not remain silent; we must stand in defense of Israel. God’s
Word says we are watchmen on the walls: “Son of man, I have made you a
watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth,
and give them warning from Me:” (Ezekiel 3:17)
“I will bless
them that bless thee, and curse him that curses thee.” (Genesis 12:3) We
must stand with him and with the Jewish people now.
Barukh atah Adonai eloheinu melekh ha-olam, hameikhin mits’adei gever.
Blessed art thou, Lord our God, King of the universe, who establishes
the footsteps of man.
